Poor Quality, Electrical Hazard, October 4, 2010 By This review is from: K-pak Reconst Rx Capor Iron (Health and Beauty) I purchased this product from a different company back in July of this year. I have used it only about 4 times. Last week (9/30/2010), I decided to use it again. About 30 seconds after turning the unit on, there was a FLASH and a *POP* and that was the end of this very expensive flat iron. I can only say that I'm thankful that I wasn't holding it when it decided to short out.
In reviewing Joico's warranty, they do have a 12-month limited warranty, BUT in order to have it repaired and returned to you they want $15 for shipping and handling. EXCUSE ME?
My stylist also has this iron, in fact, it is because of her that I purchased mine. Her iron was in use continuously for 2-weeks and then the on/off switch stopped working. I suspect the same thing occurred.
It does do a beautiful job on the hair, BUT, its shoddy quality and electrical issues aren't worth the money.

While it worked, it did a great job straightening her hair, better than any other product she has used thus far. Unfortunately, the iron only worked for a couple of months and then stopped working. For a $146 product, this is inexcusable. I was checking Amazon to see if anyone had any solutions beside spending more money to have Joico fix it. My wife states that if she knew about the quality of the product, she never would have bought it. If Joico reps read this, they need to step up and make things right for their customers...without charge!

I have extremely curly and frizzy hair. It did a wonderful job straightening my hair and giving it the silky feeling it claims to. Unfortunately, this is wonderful and all until I was straightening my hair and I heard a *POP* noise. I assumed it was the vapor--wrong-O! It blew up. The iron blew up. I was mortified. I spent good money on a Joico product whose hair products are wonderful.
Please, please do not buy this product. The warranty has so many what-if scenarios I felt it was not worth it. Joico wants you to send money with the faulty item with no guarantee they will fix it.
