I used cheap straighteners (conair, etc) and my hair would be curly again with a couple hours, which is no use for me. I found out out about this straightener while on vacation with a friend, and this was the type she used. I borrowed it from her and wanted it ever since. She purchased it for me for my birthday because I could not invest in it, haha. Everyday i thanked her for it. I have been using the same straightener for about a year now, and it is still in the same condition as when i bought it. My friends all use it when they come to my house, and always rave about it. My hair is always pin straight, smooth, and very very shiny, much to my delight. It is lightweight too, so it doesnt put a lot of stress on my wrists and hands. Gave it a try...it's nothing like Chi or Hai....The quality is more similar to revlon or conair. I'm keeping it because I don't want to deal with returning. If you're considering this item....do some research but you buy. I think there's a better one out there.

The cord is also placed in a good location on the actual straightener, so it moves as you move, so that it doesnt get wrapped up.
